The tower owned by and named after Corso Donati still stands in Piazza San Pier Maggiore in Florence.

This tower has a classic rectangular plan and some typical elements of the tower-home like holes said "pontaie", where once were part of the wooden beams that made up the scaffolding.

It has a portal with ring and three asymmetrical windows on the main facade.

Here took place the ambush Corso Donati.

Curious is the portal to the first floor, which is accessible only by stairs that was removed during the night: a defensive measure that makes the atmosphere of political struggles between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.

Next to the tower on the facade of the north side of a walled casottino is a plaque commemorating the prohibition for illegal 'historic' sales outside the spaces provided permission for the sale of fruit and vegetables.

Corso Donati was a leader of the Black Guelph faction in 13th and early 14th century and is discussed prominently by several contemporary historians like NiccolÚ Machiavelli.

Dante's Divine Comedy, which was written after Donati's death but set prior to it in 1300, includes a scene in which Corso's brother Forese indirectly describes Corso as "the one who bears the greatest blame" for the downfall of Florence and foresees him being dragged by a beast into hell.

In the Divine Comedy, Corso's sister Piccarda is the first person Dante meets in Paradise.

The apartment occupies the last 3 levels of the tower and offers an unique view over Florence.

The last top floor where is the living room is a sort of huge covered terrace who allows you to get pleasure of the skyline of Florence in every season inspite of the cold, warm, rain, snow or mosquitos!! It is better than a real terrace!

The tower is, of course, without elevator.

The apartment's entrace is from via Palmieri in a beautiful building buit by the florentine merchant Giovanni di Filippo Corbizi approximately in 1427.

The apartment is about 110 sqm and is divided by 3 levels, the first one is occupied by the entrance with sofa, by the fully equipped kitchen and a beautiul bathroom with shower.

An original stone spiral staircase leads to the first double bedroom, the room is large and bright and to another large bathroom with shower.

Few steps more there is a large second twin bedded room with panoramic view and a superb stone wall.

The stairs continues till a large, bright, sunny, and panoramic living room with fire place.

This room has continuous windows on 3 sides and offers a 270 degrees view over the main monuments of Flornce (Duomo, Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, Synagogue, etc) and the characteristic red roofs.

If you keep the windows open it will seem like staying in a real loggia.

The apartment is air conditioned and heated. It is very quiet and bright.

Amenties: washing machine, TV (not satellite), wifi, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.

The kitchen is made up of: dishwasher, stove with 4 gas burners, electric oven, fridge ad freezer.

A 5th bed can be placed everywhere you desire (better in the twin bedded room)

The apartment is beween Duomo and Santa Croce and is surrounded by bars, pubs, good restaurants. the market of Sant'Ambrogi is only few minute away. The Supermarket Conad only 300 metres.
